Allergies? What Allergies?

I originally went to Inspired Living Chiropractic because I was tired of daily back and neck pain.  I was frustrated with only receiving temporary relief with “typical chiropractic adjustments.”  I would tolerate my back and neck pain as long as I could and then I would go get an adjustment only to experience relief for a day or two.   After years of back and neck pain I started to experience sharp pains in the middle of my back as well.  I was in my 30’s and my health was going downhill fast.  Once I got to the point that it hurt to ride my motorcycle I realized I couldn’t keep going the way I was.

After my first visit I realized this chiropractic care was going to be a lot different than anything I had experienced before. I had a couple different scans of my spine done to evaluate my current condition. My picture was taken to evaluate my posture as well. Dr Behn then analyzed my scans and pictures and explained to me what was wrong and why I felt the way I did.

He inquired about any and all health issues and claimed to be able to help with all of them (one of them being allergies). I thought to myself “yeah right”. After that he proposed a plan to get my body back on track. I decided to give it shot; I didn’t know what else to do.

So I began receiving adjustments which were different as well. Rather than adjusting everything that would “pop” he evaluated what needed adjustment by looking at the way I was laying on the table. He informed me one of my legs was longer than the other. I thought “What?!”  After an adjustment he said they were back to the same length. I thought to myself “um, ok” with some doubt in my mind. He then performed one adjustment on the left side of my neck. It was unlike any adjustment I have had before. After that I was expecting the same adjustment on the right side of my neck.  Nope, that was it. I continued to receive slight adjustments like this 3 times a week for a month or so. I started feeling slightly better than I had for years. I then had my 2nd evaluation with scans and pictures again. The scans and pictures also showed some improvement as well. I could actually see my posture changing. I then realized that things were actually improving.

Next he tested me for food allergies. This was an unexpected practice from a chiropractor. To my surprise, he informed me I had two different food sensitivities.  He asked me to change my diet for 30 days. I followed his suggestions exactly as he asked.

After awhile I was able to cut back to only two adjustments a week. Another month or so of adjustments went by.

As ragweed season approached, I began looking into some new allergy medicine that hadn’t even been released yet. I told Dustin about it and needless to say, he wasn’t as excited about it as I was. He still claimed that the past few months of his care was going to help with my allergies. I laughed and continued my search for a miracle drug. I didn’t have any success with my search and went into ragweed season drug free and expecting the worse.

Ragweed pollination day came and I experienced some sneezing as expected but not as bad as normal. I figured that only some of the ragweed had pollinated and I would get much worse in the near future. Days and weeks went by and rather than getting worse I was feeling better. I couldn’t believe it! I was still drug free and feeling better than I had in 20 years! I felt better during 2014’s ragweed season without any medications than I did in previous years while taking multiple allergy medicines. I had tried monthly allergy shots and even started to get weekly allergy shots to prepare for the ragweed season in previous years. On top of that I was trying every prescription nasal spray on the market and taking multiple prescription decongestants morning and night. I had been going to an allergist in Cedar Rapids as long as I can remember and never once did they try testing for food sensitivities.

Dustin of course had been expecting my amazing results the entire time but I figured he just underestimated the severity of my allergies. I’d never seen anyone suffering from constant sneezing and congestion like I did. I had accepted that I would be sick four months out of the year. I was truly miserable August through November. I was to the point that I thought moving to a state (Maine sounded nice) with a lower ragweed pollen count was my only hope of allergy relief.

To my amazement, the relief I was looking for was found at Inspired Living Chiropractic in Jesup Iowa, the same small town that I lived in! Not only did I receive the back and neck pain relief I was looking for but the unexpected miracle of allergy relief that I had been praying for. Dustin has truly changed my life and I will never be able to thank him enough! I truly believe he can help anyone and everyone live a better, happier and healthier life.
